What Is System Parameter?

The System Parameter function of Rules Management allows you to enter and maintain system parameters required for system processing. For example: A system parameter may be needed to define the timely filing limit for claims or the time limit for presumptive eligibility.

You have the capability to search, add, edit, or delete a system parameter. You also can delete or void system parameter detail.

At the time of system implementation, system parameters were added to support the processing functionality of the various functional areas existing within ND MMIS.

You can search the system parameters based on parameter, its name, or the name of a functional area (Provider, Member, Service Authorization, etc.) responsible for maintaining the value of the parameter based on the line of business.

What are rules for system parameter dates?

Dates are important when working with system parameters.

Examples

If only one row is present, and the row begins on 06/01/2006, the End Date is set to 12/31/9999.

If a second row is later added with a Begin Date of 11/01/2006, the End Date of the row starting 06/01/2006 is updated to 10/31/2006. The row beginning 11/01/2006 contains an End Date of 12/31/9999.

The End Date of each row is the day prior to the next Begin Date, or it will be 12/31/9999 if it is the highest End Date in the list.
