How to Add or Edit a Map Definition

You use the Map Definition function to add and edit maps used by various functions in ND MMIS.

Before you can add a map definition, the map types and the valid data elements for each map type must be set up as system-wide system lists in ND MMIS.

After you add a map, it cannot be deleted. However, you can choose to void or close the individual effective-dated map definition conditions.

ClosedYou cannot edit the following information after the map has been added: 

If you edit a map that is used by more than one line of business, benefit plan, etc., a warning message notifies you that the changes may impact other areas.

On some panels on this page, you can click Add to display additional fields for adding values. Already existing values (if any) are listed in a table. Click a column heading to sort the table according to that information. You can click a table row to see fields for editing values.

To add or edit a map definition

  1. On the Rules Mgmt menu, click Map Definition.
  2. Search for the map that you want to add to make sure it doesn't already exist or that you want to edit.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. On the Map Definition page, do one of the following:
  5. In the Map Definition panel, complete the fields.
  6. ClosedTo add or edit the data elements that are the AND criteria that must be matched for the effective-dated condition to be true, complete the Definition Data fields.
    1. Do one of the following:
      • To add a new data element, in the Map Definition panel, click Add Definition Data Details.

        Note: You must enter at least one data element for each effective-date condition.

      • To edit, in the Definition Data table, click the appropriate data element criteria.
    2. In the Definition Data panel, complete the fields.

      When editing, to open the System List page for the system list in the Functional Area field, on the Definition Data action bar, click View/Edit List.

    3. Review the data element information to make sure it is accurate.

    4. To store the data element in the table, on the Definition Data action bar, click Save.
  7. To store the effective-dated condition in the table, on the Map Definition action bar, click Save.

    Repeat steps 4-7 to add or edit an additional effective-dated condition.

  8. On the Map Definition action bar, click Save.
