How to Void or Close a Map Definition

After you add a map, it cannot be deleted.

However, you can choose to void the individual effective-dated map definition condition so that it is not considered when processing. Normally you do this when the map was entered incorrectly and has not been used to process any claims. After a map definition condition has been voided, it cannot be edited.

If a map definition should no longer be used for claims after a certain date, you can close this condition by giving it an ending date. After this date, it will no longer be considered for claims whose dates fall outside the date range for this map. Normally, this ending date should be today's date or a date in the future.

Warning icon If the date you are entering in the End Date field is in the past, then claims that have been processed using this map definition may need to be adjusted. You must carefully consider all the processing steps that must be completed if you are closing a map definition retroactively.

Optionally, you can:

To void or close a map definition

  1. On the Rules Mgmt menu, click Map Definition.
  2. Search for and select the map you want to delete.
  3. On the Map Definition page, in the Map Definition table, click the Begin Date of the effective-dated map definition section that should no longer be used and do one of the following:
  4. To store the changes to the effective-dated condition in the table, on the Map Definition panel action bar, click Save.
