About Maintaining Templates

Templates are initially defined in xPression. You use the predefined templates to create letters in the Letter Generation process. Free-form letters cannot be created. However, for certain templates, there is a text area within the template to insert free-form text.

You use the Maintain Templates page to view and edit predefined templates. Each template can be associated with one or more keywords.

There are two types of keyword lists:

Keywords can also be associated to templates on the Maintain Keywords page.

You can request a template to be reviewed by a supervisor. If a template requires supervisor approval, the Supervisor Approval Required field on the Letter Generation Request page is automatically selected for that specific template.

You can set the number of days that the recipient should respond to a letter that is created from a specific template. You set this value in a field called Number of Days for Response on the Maintain Templates page. This value can also be set when you are editing the Letters & Responses panel on a correspondence record (CR) or case.

Note: The Number of Days field is called Days Due Back when it is viewed in the Letters and Responses panel on the CR or case pages.
