How to Add or Edit an LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy

On the LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy page, you can add a new effective-dated hierarchy of MMIS benefit plans, or you can edit an existing one as long as the beginning date of the hierarchy's range is greater than the current system date.

If you need to change a hierarchy that is effective already because it was set up in error or you need to change the ending date of the hierarchy because it is no longer valid, you must void or close the hierarchy. You cannot delete a hierarchy after it has been saved.

Optionally, you can:

• View or add notes. To view or add notes for this record, on the action bar, click Notes.
• Replicate an effective-dated hierarchy of benefit plans.

• View audit details. To retrieve audit information, close any open panels and, on the action bar, click Audit Log. To view the details for a particular record, click Audit.

• Reset your entries. To clear the fields and remain on the page or panel, click Reset.
• Cancel your entries. To close the page or panel without saving your changes, click Cancel.

To add or edit a benefit plan hierarchy

1. On the Benefits menu, click Plan Hierarchy.
2. On the LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy page, do one of the following:
   • To add a new hierarchy, click Add LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy.
   • To edit a hierarchy, in the LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy table, click the appropriate row.

3. In the LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy panel, complete the date range fields for the effective-dated hierarchy.

   Note: Only one hierarchy can be effective at a time; therefore date ranges cannot overlap unless a range has been voided.

4. To add or edit a benefit plan's ranking, complete the Ranking fields.

   1. Do one of the following:

      • To add a benefit plan to the hierarchy, click Add Ranking.

        Note: You must add at least one ranking to an effective-dated hierarchy.

      • To edit an existing benefit plan ranking, in the Rankings table, click the appropriate row.
   2. In the Ranking panel, complete the fields.
   3. Review the information for this ranking to make sure it is accurate.
   4. To store this ranking in the table, on the Rankings action bar, click Save.
5. To store this hierarchy in the table, on the LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy panel action bar, click Save.
6. Review all the information for this hierarchy to make sure it is accurate.
7. To save this hierarchy, on the LOB/Benefit Plan Hierarchy page action bar, click Save.
