How to Edit a TPL Billing

You can edit a limited amount of information about a bill (an invoice) sent to a third-party carrier. Most often, you are adding recovery (payment or denial) information to the billing record. You can also request that a bill be re-issued to the carrier during the next billing cycle. In addition, you can attach documents about the invoice to the billing record.

Before adding recovery information to the billing record or re-issuing a bill, you must decide if the amount is to be applied to or the bill is to be re-issued for:

This decision determines which panel of fields to complete.

When a decision has been made to no longer issue a bill, you can manually close the bill and provide an appropriate reason.

If you open a panel that has an action bar and add or edit information, before continuing, on the panel's action bar, click Save.

To edit a TPL billing record

  1. On the Financial menu, point to Third Party Liability, and then click Billing.
  2. Search for and select the billing record you want to edit.
  3. On the TPL Billing page, navigate to the part of the billing record where you need to apply your changes.
  4. In the appropriate panel of the Invoice tab, complete the fields:
  5. Optionally, to attach a document to the billing record, edit the description of an attached document, or detach a document, on the Invoice tab, complete the Attachments fields. See How to Search For and Attach Documents for additional instructions.
  6. ClosedOptionally, to generate and review letters about this billing record, click the Letters & Responses tab and do one of the following:
  7. Review the information to make sure it is accurate.

  8. On the TPL Billing action bar, click Save.
