About Financial

Finances are an important part of processing a claim. Before any claim can be paid, the budget is entered, the financial institutions handling the payments and receipts of monies are established.

During the claims adjudications process, if a claim has any third party liabilities, payment to the payee is deferred until the liability information is received and processed.

North Dakota's Medicaid program is the payer of last resort. It uses the third-party insurance (or other) liabilities information before determining the amount to be paid by Medicaid. Third-party reimbursements to Medicaid lower the overall cost and helps maintain the budget.
