What Is Medical Services Questionnaire (MSQ) Maintenance?

A Medical Services Questionnaire (MSQ) is a way to collect information from individual members. You can manually request one or one can be automatically generated.

Using the Medical Service Questionnaire Maintenance function of Third Party Liability in Financial, you can:

• View existing MSQs
• Edit existing MSQs, including adding response information from the member
• Manually create a new MSQ request
• Specify whether the manual new request should be checked for duplicates
• Delete an MSQ which has not been sent out by the system

MSQs are automatically generated, based on business rules, when an adjudicated claim indicates that an accident or trauma-related service was provided to a member. The claim(s) must meet an adjudicated amount threshold before an MSQ is triggered.

If an MSQ has been generated for a member for the same MSQ type with a pre-defined period, ND MMIS does not generate another MSQ. A monthly report is produced of all second inquiry notices that have not received responses to help you follow-up with your members.
