How to Add or Edit HIPP Information - Policy

You can use the Policy tab of the HIPP Information page to identify a third-party policy and its carrier for an effective period of a HIPP case, when this information has not been previously set up using the TPL Policy function. Policyholder information and covered individuals are entered on the Policyholder & Covered Individuals tab.

Before you can associate a carrier to the policy, the carrier must already have an ID assigned by the ND MMIS and must be active. .

To add or edit policy information for a HIPP case

  1. If the Policy tab of the HIPP Information page for the appropriate HIPP effective period is already displayed, go to the next step.

  2. To identify the policy associated with the HIPP case, in the unlabeled panel at the top of the Policy tab, complete the fields.

    Note: If you are adding policy information for a HIPP case, you must enter at least a policy number, carrier ID, or required information for a covered individual AND a policy period pending status of Yes to save this information for the first time. Other fields are only required to activate the policy.

  3. To do the following tasks, in the Policy Period panel, complete the fields:
  4. To associate an existing carrier to the policy, in the Carrier panel, complete the fields.

    Tip: Beside the Carrier ID field, click Quick Search magnifying glass icon to look up a carrier to assign this policy on the Search Carrier page.

  5. Optionally, to add employer information as it relates to the policy, in the Employer panel, complete the fields.
  6. Review the information for the case's policy.

    Warning icon If the policy and case information are not complete, make sure that the Pend field in the Policy Period panel indicates Yes, and that the HIPP Effective Status field on the Case Info tab also indicates a pending status.

  7. To verify that there are no duplicate HIPP effective periods, policies, payee information or premium information, and to save this policy, on the HIPP Information action bar, click Save.
