You can search for modifiers for procedure codes.
The Search Modifier page contains the following panels:

| Modifier |
The code that identifies the additional information or change to the description of procedure in order to improve accuracy or specificity. Can be used with the Starts With option. Format: 2 characters Examples: QK, QW, AA, AD |
| Modifier Type |
The type of modifier. Example: Pricing, Billing |
| Description |
The short description of the modifier for the procedure code. Can be used with the Starts With or Contains option. Format: Up to 40 characters in length. Example: Surgery, wrong body part |
| Starts With |
The Starts With option tells the system to retrieve all records that start with the search criteria entered. Example: When Q is entered for the modifier, then all modifiers starting with Q are displayed, such as: QK and QW. If anesthesia is entered for the description, then all descriptions starting with anesthesia are returned, such as: Anesthesia services personally performed by the anesthesiologist (AA modifier) and Anesthesia, CRNA medically directed (QX modifier). |
| Contains |
The Contains option tells the system to retrieve all records that include the associated search field somewhere in the text. At least 2 characters must be entered to use the Contains option. Example: If anesthesiologist is entered for the description, then any modifier containing the phrase anesthesiologist is returned, such as Anesthesia services personally performed by the anesthesiologist (AA modifier) and Medical direction of one CRNA by an anesthesiologist (QY modifier). |
